BIOGRAPHY

Zeena started singing lessons with Faith Winthrop, and went unto Judy Davis, Linda Noble Brown (opera), Sandy Geller, and, Dave Stroud, (of Seth Riggs). As a vocalist, her charisma, vocal range, coloring of words, and textural meaning in any of her performances derives from all of her many artistic skills.

Ms. Quinn has shared the stage with Mel Martin All Star Big Band, Cab Calloway Orchestra (Calloway Brooks), Chalo Eduardo (Sergio Mendes) with Santana, Noel Jewkes, Marcos Silva, and opened for John Lee Hooker.

An elegant singer whose voice is inspired by the golden age of jazz, Zeena pays special homage to the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Jeanne Lee, Ruth Brown, Carmen McRae, Betty Carter, Earnestine Anderson, Anita O'Day, and, Annie Ross. Musically, she is inspired by the raw composition of Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Cole Porter and Jon Hendericks.

Starting out as a professional dancer, much like a drummer, Zeena Quinn was instinctively turned on to rhythms. She quickly learned, sang, and danced the diverse and syncopated rhythms of Flamenco with castanets, Samba & Afro-Brazilian, ballet, tap, and jazz.
Simultaneously, as a successful SAG/AFTRA actress, she consistently worked in television, voice-over, stage, commercial print model, a touring dancer, as well as, dance and fitness teacher and choreographer.
As a triple threat, musical theater was a familiar place to start. However, performing Cabaret venues soon felt limited. It was through singing jazz standards that she learned to love the complicated rhythms, yet simple lyrics of the jazz era. Her vocals, exotic look, and endless energy are true to the 30's to 60's era...an exciting and innovative time of music and style!
